About BerkshireWaterGardens.com Minimize

BerkshireWaterGardens.com was learning the art of waterfalls over 30 years ago.

My name is Jeff Mansen.  I am 34 years old, and I am the owner, designer, and builder for BerkshireWaterGardens.com.  I have been creating water features as a business for over 10 years, and have been learning my skill for much longer.

Growing up I lived in Western Massachusetts until about age 17.  As a kid many, many hours were spent playing in the rivers and waterfalls on camping trips, on vacations, on my grandparent's farm, and the rivers and waterfalls behind my home.

I have fond memories of playing around in the rivers and waterfalls where I grew up.  We used to create dams, and alter the water flow, create new waterfalls, catch frogs & crayfish, etc., etc., etc.

One of my fondest memories of my grandfather was "digging in the goldmine".  In the summertime he would load up a wheel barrel with shovels, a pick, and a crowbar.  We would trek from one corner of the 65 acres to the opposite corner where there was a cool waterfall coming down through the cliffs.

The area had been rumored to have gold, and he was wanting to find his part (or maybe just trying to get away from my grandmother).  But there we spent many summer days growing up playing around with him.

The irony to this is that later in life, the gold he was looking for I have found in my job, business and life. Building water features for people, and recreating the natural beauty of waterfalls inspired by Mother Nature is a very fulfilling thing to do.

I absolutely love my job, and my inspiration for creating beautiful natural-looking waterfalls has a long, long history. As an adult I have spent many days of my life wandering around waterfalls in Massachusetts and North Carolina.  We have family in both locations so whenever we visit, you can be sure we do some waterfall hiking.

Now that we have a little boy, I can see that our family business may become a second generation business.  Nathan already knows all about waterfalls.  Like all kids he is very attracted to the one in our front yard and any other water feature I take him to.

Chances are when we have to go I have to pick him up, and he will cry for the waterfall because he doesn't want to quit playing with it. When we are driving around running errands or going to eat he will alert us to when we are driving near a waterfall that he's seen.

I think he's going to be as hooked as I am.

If you are considering a pond or pondless waterfall we would love to create something special for you and your family.
