Pondless waterfalls are the most popular selection in Jacksonville, and also my top choice in creating water features.
There are so many positive reasons to choose a pondless waterfall. When consulting with new clients on what type of water feature to recommend I alway push for the pondless waterfall.
A new client should clearly want fish, or water lilies, or a body of water in order to qualify for a pond. If not, go for the pondless waterfall.
A pondless waterfall is a waterfall, minus the pond at the end of it.
It is funny how many people think that they need a pond in order to have a waterfall. You don't.
Pondless waterfalls are also referred to as disappearing waterfalls because they just seem to disappear into the ground.
The way it is constructed is similar to a pond. A big hole is still dug like for a pond, but it is filled in with a system that allows for maximum water volume, while filling in the hole to make it a pondless basin.
If you look at a pondless waterfall sometimes it is hard to imagine, but usually a very large hole is created to make the system work.
There are so many positive reasons to choose a pondless waterfall.
They are virtually maintenance free
.
You will have to fill it from time to time, and debris may need to be occasionally removed from the waterfall depending on your setting, but that's about it.
They are energy efficient.
Because there are no fish to keep alive by running the pump continually, you can turn the pondless waterfall on when needed. They can be put on a timer or switch and ran whenever you are there to enjoy it.
The liability factor of a pondless waterfall is much less than that of a pond.
A pond has a body of water that is typically 18" - 24" deep. A pondless waterfall will not have that. That's why it is a "pondless waterfall".
Because you don't need to have fish filters, and skimmers on your pondless waterfall, you can get way
more waterfall for your investment
by going pondless. Also all of the rocks in the underwater area can be eliminated. Helping the overall cost of the project.
